About SeekPhoto

A local AI image search tool

Our story

Building a tool that truly understands photos

SeekPhoto began with a simple need: find the photo you want quickly, in a huge library.

We wanted a tool that genuinely understands what is in a picture, rather than relying on filenames and dates.

So SeekPhoto was born — a fully local, privacy-first AI image search tool.

We keep the core capabilities free for everyone who loves photography and photo management; paid plans exist purely to unlock advanced capabilities, and we hope it makes managing your photos lighter.

Design principles

Three principles, throughout

Privacy, intelligence and simplicity are the standards SeekPhoto holds itself to

Privacy first

All data is stored locally and never uploaded to any server

AI driven

Artificial intelligence understands photo content, making search genuinely smarter

Simple to use

No complex configuration — open it and start working

Technology

What makes it possible

SeekPhoto combines local AI with lightweight engineering to turn a hard search into something you can do by hand

AI that understands the picture

The AI reads what is actually in each photo, so you can search with a sentence instead of relying on filenames or dates.

Chinese-CLIP semantic model

Text inside photos is searchable

Text in photos (signs, documents, screenshots) is recognised automatically, making even text-heavy images findable.

PP-OCRv4 text recognition

Fast even with hundreds of thousands of photos

Photo metadata lives in a local database and vectors are compared in memory, so similarity search returns in milliseconds however large the library.

SQLite local indexIn-memory vector search

Lightweight and low on memory

Built with Rust and Tauri, it uses fewer resources and starts faster than traditional Electron apps.

RustTauri

Data never leaves the machine

The AI model runs on your computer, so photos never leave it — and it works without an internet connection.
